IN MEMORIAM: DR. REGINALD C. CHISHOLM, CLASS OF 1966

Dr. Reginald C. Chisholm, Class of 1966, passed away on July 16, 2018.

Dr. Chisholm was born on October 13, 1934 in Morant Bay, Jamaica. Dr. Chisholm earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Howard University in 1962. Afterwards, he enrolled in the College of Medicine and earned his M.D. in 1966. His residency and internship training were both completed at Freedmen's Hospital, from 1966-1970.

After completing his residency, Dr. Chisholm went on to complete his fellowship training in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, NIH in Bethesda, MD, Fellowship in Oncology at the VA Hospital in Washington, DC, and in Hematology/Oncology at Walter Reed Army Hospital in 1973.

In 1973, Dr. Chisholm joined Howard University Hospital's Department of Medicine as an Assistant Professor. He served as the Acting Chief of the Medical Oncology Section of Howard University from 1973 until 1979. From 1977 until 1982, he also held the position of Coordinator of the Cancer Screening and Detection Clinic at Howard University. Dr. Chisholm remained on the staff of the Department of Medicine until his retirement in 2008.

Dr. Chisholm is remembered by many as an excellent teacher, clinician, and academician. He was well respected by his colleagues, students, and postgraduate trainees. His clinical acumen and teaching experience made a marked impact on the Department of Medicine and in the medical community of Howard University and Washington, DC.

Dr. Chisholm is survived by his wife, Cecilin L. Chisholm, M.D, three brothers, and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Dr. Chisholm will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 12:00pm-1:30pm in the Walter Lester Henry, Jr., M.D. Auditorium at Howard University Hospital.
